Small Business Profile: Panhandle Cone and Coffee

Panhandle CDA- Local Flavors, Local Ingredients, Local People

Situated conveniently in the Midtown area of Coeur d’Alene, Panhandle Cone and Coffee offers unique homemade flavors and local coffee options within a welcoming and relaxed environment. They opened their first store in 2015 in Moscow and have since expanded to include locations in Sandpoint and most recently in Coeur d’Alene in February of this year.

They pride themselves on their unique flavor combinations which include the top seller Salted Caramel Brown Butter Cookie as well as others like Bourbon and Honeycomb (my favorite), Buttermilk Huckleberry, Coconut Caramel Salted Ganache (vegan), Maple Pecan Praline, and many others. The most popular flavors are offered year round while several others are created brand new or rotated seasonally every few months. Each flavor is created using ingredients from Athol Orchards, local dairy farms, as well as handmade cookies and waffle cones. They also partner with local coffee company Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters (Sandpoint and CDA) and Kamiak Coffee Company(Moscow) to offer a wide selection of coffee within their shop.

As the Midtown area of CDA continues to develop and grow, Panhandle Cone and Coffee wants to set down roots, become part of the local community, and create a welcoming environment for ice cream lovers. They have multiple promotions to engage the community including their “Wood Nickel Wednesday” challenge where a wood nickel is hidden somewhere in a one-mile radius of the shop and whoever finds it wins a free scoop. They also participate in and contribute to local fundraisers by offering gift cards and coffee.

Next time you are up for a unique ice cream flavor and a local experience away from the often-busy CDA downtown be sure to stop by Panhandle Cone and Coffee!
